Join us for a community-powered rain garden build at Chaparral Elementary School!
This project will be the 9th rain garden installed across the Claremont Unified School District, helping transform empty spaces into sustainable landscapes that benefit both students and the environment.
Rain gardens are specially designed basins that capture and absorb stormwater runoff. They reduce flooding, filter pollutants, and recharge groundwater, all while creating a habitat for native plants and wildlife.
Volunteers will work together to bring this space to life through a variety of tasks, including sheet mulching, creating the basin, and planting native plants. Tasks range from family-friendly to more physical work, so there is something for everyone! No prior experience is necessary.
This event is open to residents, students, families, and anyone interested in supporting climate resilience and sustainable landscapes in their community.
