On Saturday, April 11, Hip Hop Caucus and Inside the Greenhouse will collaborate to present a Climate Comedy Workshop during LA Climate Week. The Climate Comedy Workshop is a first-of-its-kind creative education initiative that leverages the power of humor as a critical tool for climate storytelling, promoting civic engagement, and fostering intergenerational learning.
The workshop is open to individuals ages 18 to 25; the deadline to register is April 6th. Experience in performance arts or comedy is preferred but not required.
The program pairs students with a team of veteran comedians—including Rasheda Crockett, Kaycee Conlee, and Estaban Gast—alongside environmental leaders as mentors. This collaborative structure will facilitate the co-creation of climate-themed stand-up and sketch performances. The primary goal is to produce content that makes complex climate issues accessible, locally relevant, and framed with a sense of hope. By seamlessly fusing climate justice education with comedic performance, participants will learn to transform feelings of climate anxiety and apathy into proactive, creative agency and action.
