SUMMARY:Roadmap Towards a Just Food Future in the United States
DESCRIPTION:A just food transition isn’t just about what’s on your plate — it’s about who controls the food system\, who bears its costs\, and who gets to shape what comes next. \nJoin Annette Manusevich (she/her)\, Farming Campaign Manager at World Animal Protection and Leah Kelly (she/her)\, Food and Agriculture Policy Specialist at the Center for Biological Diversity\, for a policy conversation rooted in The Just Transition from Industrial Animal Production to Equitable\, Humane and Sustainable Food Systems — a white paper built with input from over 120 individuals across 72 organizations in 35 countries. \nThe conversation will explore what it means to transition away from industrial animal agriculture in a way that centers racial equity\, food sovereignty\, and the rights of workers and marginalized communities — not just emissions targets. The U.S.\, as one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of industrially farmed animal products\, is a critical front in this global fight. \nModerated by Joey Gaber\, Los Angeles City Campaigner for Plant Based Treaty and co-founder of Food Day in WeHo. \nPart of Food Day Festival in WeHo — a free\, family-friendly\, plant-based food festival co-hosted by Plant Based Treaty LA and SoCal VegFest at Plummer Park\, April 12\, 2026\, 11 AM–5 PM. An official event of LA Climate Week. \nSpecial thanks to Platinum Sponsor World Animal Protection for making this programming possible. \nVolunteer: linktr.ee/FoodDayFestival  \nRegistration Link: http://fooddayfestival.eventbrite.com
