About Event

We’re excited to celebrate you! Join us for a family-friendly morning in nature with a guided trail walk, native plant identification, stewardship conversations, and more.

Lunch will be provided by Shift Our Ways Collective!

Transportation:
TreePeople will provide transportation from the Arleta Backyard Farm to Rudy Ortega Park. If you’d like to ride with Shift Our Ways Collective, please choose the correct ticket. Plan to meet at Arleta Backyard Farm at 9:15 AM for a 9:30 departure. You’re also welcome to meet us at the park.

Schedule:
10:00 AM – Arrival
10:10 AM – Guided TreePeople Tour
11:30 AM – Tour Wrap-Up, Q&A
12:00 PM – Picnic Lunch & Activities
1:00 PM – Event ends, and the bus departs back to the Arleta Backyard Farm

In 2020, a group of women transformed neglected lots into thriving spaces of nourishment, connection, and care, rebuilding soil through composting, mulching, and regenerative practices to grow organic, pesticide-free produce. What began as a small act of mutual aid has become the SOW Collective Backyard Farms, donating 100 percent of our harvest to community members in need and creating a neighborhood-scale food system rooted in care and reciprocity. Beyond food, we restore relationships with the land, with each other, and with ourselves through workshops, garden installations, and community gatherings. At SOW, sustainability is more than a practice. We grow food, belonging, resilience, and a future rooted in justice and joy.
