Join the LA County Chief Sustainability Office, the LA County Department of Public Health PLACE program, and LA County Public Works for a walking tour of the East Los Angeles Sustainable Median Stormwater Capture Project. The East Los Angeles Sustainable Median Stormwater Capture Project (Project) is located in the unincorporated area of East Los Angeles (East LA), in Landscape Maintenance District Zone 35, and improves water quality, increases water supply, and enhances recreation and the community. This Project captures and infiltrates approximately 21 acre-feet of urban and stormwater runoff from a 3,000-acre tributary area of mostly residential and commercial land areas. The project also provides above-ground improvements such as jogging paths, drought-tolerant landscaping, planting over 300 trees, and educational signage.
