In this workshop, participants will explore the concept of the soundscape. Weaving in connections to ecological and human health, music and science, participants will be guided through listening and recording activities in the West LA College natural habitat. They will then work in teams to create a visualization of their soundscape experience.
Our workshop host Brian integrates art and natural history in his work and leads Nature Nexus Institute’s nature storytelling efforts through video, art, and music, capturing student and community connections to nature. He helps lead students in Nature Nexus Institute education programs and community volunteers during habitat restoration events. Having spent 8+ years teaching with the Los Angeles Audubon Society and managing restoration projects across California’s state parks, he brings a unique scientific perspective to artistic storytelling. He holds a degree in art from UC Santa Cruz and has over a decade of experience in restoration and education programming. He is also a Baldwin Hills Greenhouse Program alumnus.
