Digital Communications Lead

Location: Remote

LA Climate Week’s website and email are two of the main ways people discover events, receive updates, and stay connected throughout the year. As the Digital Communications Lead, you’ll manage these day-to-day channels—keeping the website current, creating landing pages and forms, coordinating email campaigns, and helping grow and engage our audience. It’s about 10 hours a week for approximately six months, fully remote.

About the Role

You’ll work alongside the marketing team to turn programming, campaign, and organizational updates into useful digital content. Your part is keeping our website and email communications running smoothly while paying attention to what’s working and finding ways to make these channels even more effective.

Ways you might contribute

Your focus will shift with current priorities, and you and the marketing team can decide where your time is most useful.

  • Website. Keep the LACW website current, update copy, build landing pages, and catch outdated content, broken links, or other issues that need attention.
  • Forms. Create and maintain digital forms and make sure submissions are getting where they need to go.
  • Email. Build and send monthly newsletters and other campaigns, including setup, testing, scheduling, and distribution.
  • Audience segments. Keep email segments organized so communications reach the right audiences.
  • Growth. Find opportunities across the website, events, and other channels to grow the email list and encourage people to stay connected.
  • Performance. Track email engagement and list growth, notice what’s working, and use those insights to improve future communications.
  • Team coordination. Work with Editorial, Social Media, and other teams to gather content and keep messaging and campaign timing aligned.

You might enjoy this if

You like making digital information clear, useful, and easy to find. You’re a strong writer, detail-oriented, and comfortable keeping several updates or campaigns moving at once. Experience with WordPress, email marketing, audience segmentation, or digital communications is welcome but not required. Familiarity with Elementor Pro, Fillout, or Neon is a bonus, and we can help you learn the tools you haven’t used before.

What you can expect from us

  • Clear direction. The marketing team will provide the brand framework, priorities, and context behind key decisions.
  • Hands-on experience. You’ll work directly with website content, email campaigns, landing pages, forms, segmentation, audience growth, and engagement reporting.
  • Tools you can learn. You’ll have opportunities to work with WordPress, Elementor Pro, Fillout, Neon, and other digital communications tools.
  • Experience you can use. You can document appropriate campaigns, landing pages, and digital projects for your portfolio, and CF leadership can provide a professional reference upon completion.
  • Accommodations. If a change in scheduling, communication format, or another aspect of the role would help you participate, tell us and we’ll work with you.

Los Angeles County is home to many communities, and our communications are stronger when the people helping shape them reflect that range. If you’re a person of color, disabled, LGBTQ+, or part of another community underrepresented in nonprofit marketing and digital communications, we’d especially like to hear from you.

Time and terms

  • Time. About 10 hours a week for approximately six months, with flexible scheduling.
  • Location. Fully remote and largely async, with regular check-ins with the marketing team and role supervisor.
  • LA Climate Week. During April 2–12, 2027, additional availability will be helpful for timely website and email updates. We’ll plan for that period together in advance.

This is an unpaid volunteer role working closely with the marketing team and role supervisor. You give your time freely, with no expectation of pay now or in the future. It is not employment and not a pathway to a paid position.
