Leadership Community Management Lead

Location: Remote

Los Angeles Climate Week is guided by a Steering Committee and seven councils. As Leadership Community Management Lead, you’ll work alongside our Managing Director to keep those groups connected. You’ll help meetings run smoothly, keep notes and records current, and notice when one council’s ideas could help another. It’s about 4 to 6 hours a week through May 2027, mostly remote, and you choose which tasks fit you.

Los Angeles Climate Week is guided by a Steering Committee and seven councils. Their members bring experience, relationships, and ideas to the work all year. This role helps those groups stay connected to each other between meetings.

About the Role

You’ll work alongside our Managing Director, who leads the relationships with Steering Committee and council members. Your part is the thread between conversations. You’ll help meetings run smoothly, keep track of what each group is working on, and notice when one council is exploring something another would want to know about.

Ways you might contribute

You and the Managing Director will decide together which of these fit your interests and the time you have. You can say no to any task.

  • Meetings. Help with scheduling, agendas, and materials. Take notes and track decisions and next steps. Co-facilitate if you’d like to.
  • Records. Keep rosters and meeting notes current and easy to find.
  • Connecting ideas. Spot themes that come up across groups. Draft short summaries for the Managing Director. Suggest where two groups or members could help each other.
  • Member questions. Answer routine questions and point members to the right person or resource.

You might enjoy this if

You like keeping many threads in view and seeing how they connect. You write clear notes. You’re at ease around leaders and know what should stay in the room. Experience with boards, councils, member networks, or climate work is welcome but not needed.

What you can expect from us

  • Context on each group, plus a clear sense of who to ask when something needs a decision.
  • A reference from our Managing Director, whenever you ask for one.
  • Permission to show the systems and templates you build in your portfolio, with member information removed.
  • Accommodations in scheduling, communication format, or anything else. Tell us what would help.

Los Angeles County is home to many communities, and our councils work best when the people supporting them reflect that range. If you’re a person of color, disabled, LGBTQ+, or part of another community underrepresented in climate work, we’d especially like to hear from you.

Time and terms

  • About 4 to 6 hours a week, October 2026 through May 2027.
  • Most of the work is remote and on your own schedule. Some council meetings happen at set times, so some live availability helps.
  • You can change your hours or step away at any time. Just let the Managing Director know.
  • You’ll sign a short volunteer agreement covering confidentiality and how member information is handled.

This is an unpaid volunteer role. You give your time freely, with no expectation of pay now or in the future. It is not employment and not a pathway to a paid position.
