Programming Lead

Location: Remote

LA Climate Week runs across eight themes, each led by a Theme Planning Lead and their Committee. As Programming Lead, you’ll work alongside our Programming Officer to keep those teams connected. You’ll help standards stay consistent across themes, keep track of what each Committee is working on, the action items.milestones and make sure organizer info and event details are recorded and easy to find. It’s about 4 to 6 hours a week through May 2027, mostly remote, and you choose which tasks fit you.

LA Climate Week runs across eight themes, each led by a Theme Planning Lead and a small Committee. Together, they recruit organizers and build the event program. This role helps those teams stay connected to each other and to program-wide standards between meetings.

About the role
You’ll work alongside our Programming Officer, who leads the relationship with each Theme Planning Lead. Your part is the thread between them. You’ll help meetings run smoothly, keep track of what each Committee is working on, and notice when one theme’s approach or organizer could help another.

Ways you might contribute
You and the Programming Officer will decide together which of these fit your interests and the time you have. You can say no to any task.

  • Meetings. Help schedule check-ins with Theme Planning Leads, prepare agendas, and take notes on decisions and next steps.
  • Records. Keep the action tracker, submission tracker, event roster, timeline and post-event survey results current and easy to find.
  • Connecting ideas. Spot organizers or approaches that could help more than one theme. Draft short summaries for the Programming Officer. Suggest where two Theme Planning Leads could compare notes.
  • Standards support. Help Theme Planning Leads use shared tools and formats consistently, and answer routine questions about the submission process.

You might enjoy this if
You like keeping many threads in view and seeing how they connect. You write clear notes. You’re comfortable following up with people who are busy, and know what should stay in the room. Experience with events, program coordination, or climate work is welcome but not needed.

What you can expect from us

  • Context on each theme, plus a clear sense of who to ask when something needs a decision.
  • Timely decision-making
  • A reference from our Programming Officer, whenever you ask for one.
  • Permission to show the systems and templates you build in your portfolio, with organizer information removed.
  • Accommodations in scheduling, communication format, or anything else. Tell us what would help.

Los Angeles County is home to many communities, and our program works best when the people supporting it reflect that range. If you’re a person of color, disabled, LGBTQ+, or part of another community underrepresented in climate work, we’d especially like to hear from you.

Time and terms

About 4 to 6 hours a week, October 2026 through May 2027.

  • Most of the work is remote and on your own schedule. Some check-ins happen at set times, so some live availability helps.
  • You can change your hours or step away at any time. Just let the Managing Director know.
  • You’ll sign a short volunteer agreement covering confidentiality and how organizer and member information is handled.

This is an unpaid volunteer role. You give your time freely, with no expectation of pay now or in the future. It is not employment and not a pathway to a paid position.

Los Angeles Climate Week is a program of Collidescope Foundation.
