Systems, Data & Operations Lead

Location: Remote

LA Climate Week relies on accurate data and reliable systems to support everything from event programming and constituent relationships to reporting and decision-making. As Systems, Data & Operations Lead, you’ll help keep those systems running day-to-day—maintaining data, supporting NeonCRM, building reports, documenting processes, and finding ways to make our operations work better. It’s about 8–10 hours a week for approximately six months, fully remote.

About the Role

You’ll work alongside the Data & Operations Officer and Systems & Infrastructure Officer, who set the broader systems, data, and operational strategy. Your part is helping that strategy work in practice—keeping information accurate, maintaining day-to-day workflows, spotting problems, and making our systems easier for the team to use.

Ways you might contribute

Your focus will shift with current priorities, and you and the Officers can decide where your time is most useful.

  • CRM & systems. Help maintain NeonCRM and related workflows, troubleshoot issues, and make sure information is being recorded consistently.
  • Data quality. Review constituent and event records, clean up duplicates or incomplete information, and help keep organizational data accurate and reliable.
  • Reporting. Build and maintain reports and dashboards, check numbers before they’re shared, and help investigate discrepancies when something doesn’t add up.
  • Processes. Document workflows and data standards and create guides, templates, or checklists that make recurring work easier to understand and repeat.
  • Improvements. Notice where a system or process is creating unnecessary work and help find a clearer or more efficient approach.
  • Team support. Help people across LACW understand where information belongs and support data and reporting needs that cross team boundaries.

You might enjoy this if

You like clean data, organized systems, and figuring out why something isn’t working the way it should. You’re detail-oriented, comfortable with spreadsheets and structured information, and enjoy turning messy processes into something people can actually follow. Experience with CRM administration, data analysis, dashboards, SOPs, or nonprofit operations is welcome but not required.

What you can expect from us

  • Clear direction. The Data & Operations Officer and Systems & Infrastructure Officer will provide the standards, priorities, and context behind how our systems and data are structured.
  • Hands-on experience. You’ll work with real nonprofit data, CRM administration, reporting, dashboards, systems documentation, and process improvement.
  • Tools you can learn. You’ll gain experience with NeonCRM and the spreadsheets, reporting tools, and workflows that support LA Climate Week.
  • Room to improve things. If you see a better way to organize a process or solve a recurring problem, we want to hear it.
  • Experience you can use. You can document appropriate systems, reports, dashboards, and process-improvement work for your portfolio, and CF leadership can provide a professional reference upon completion.
  • Accommodations. If a change in scheduling, communication format, or another aspect of the role would help you participate, tell us, and we’ll work with you.

Los Angeles County is home to many communities, and our organization is stronger when the people building its systems reflect that range. If you’re a person of color, disabled, LGBTQ+, or part of another community underrepresented in nonprofit systems, data, and operations work, we’d especially like to hear from you.

Time and terms

  • Time. About 8–10 hours a week for approximately six months, with flexible scheduling.
  • Location. Fully remote and largely async, with regular check-ins with the Data & Operations Officer and Systems & Infrastructure Officer.
  • Renewal. There may be an opportunity to continue beyond the initial term by mutual agreement.

This is an unpaid volunteer role working under the guidance of the Data & Operations Officer and Systems & Infrastructure Officer. You give your time freely, with no expectation of pay now or in the future. It is not employment and not a pathway to a paid position.
