LA Climate Week is a community-driven initiative. Make an impact by hosting an event that inspires, educates, and drives climate action. Or, showcase your commitment to a sustainable future by becoming a sponsor.
Los Angeles Climate Week is created for the community, by the community. It is organized by Collidescope Foundation in partnership with Terra.do.
Whilst the LA Climate Week Steering Committee and Organizing Team work on operations, key initiatives, logistics, amplification, and creating the overall platform, LA Climate Week will be ultimately made possible by the many organizations, businesses, and institutions that will host climate events throughout the week. Event hosts are responsible for ideating, organizing, and covering the costs of their events. All event submissions will be reviewed and added to the Official LA Climate Week Calendar.
Our team will be matching businesses that have offered their venues (restaurants, corporate spaces, community centers, shops, gardens) with event hosts looking for venues. We will also match interested speakers and support with event marketing.
Thank you for your interest in hosting an event for Los Angeles Climate Week. We are committed to being for the community, by the community. We want to empower YOU and your organization to engage with LA Climate Week in ways that are most aligned with your collective values.
Please use this as a reference to properly submit your events to the official Los Angeles Climate Week calendar where all registered attendees, participants, and sponsors can preview and sign up for approved events.
We are now accepting event submissions until September 1st, 2024, 11:59 PST. We encourage you to apply as early as possible to maximize impact, reach, and inclusion. Make sure to read the Event Submission Process at the end of this guide to submit your event. We are excited to see you in September!
To make your event as impactful as possible, determine what you want to accomplish with this event. Create a clear set of goals that may include:
Decide on the kind of event you’d like to host. We encourage in-person events, but virtual events are also accepted. People will be drawn to innovative and interesting events, so try to be creative!
You can create a variety of events, here are some examples
Inclusivity: Events should be inclusive and accessible to diverse audiences.
Community Engagement: Events should encourage active participation and dialogue among attendees.
Education: Events should introduce ideas, technologies, or methods for addressing climate issues.
Partnerships: Events that involve collaborations with other organizations or community groups are highly encouraged.
Determine how much you can spend on the event. Take a look at potential costs for a venue, printing, design, marketing, food, drinks, decorations, technical equipment, and more, to determine your event budget. Whilst we encourage your event to be free, you may set a ticket price. Ask businesses in your area if they are willing to give in-kind donations such as food, drinks, or a venue to host the event.
We know that finding a venue or speakers may be difficult, so our team has created a database of free venues from LA Climate Week Partners and other venues with non-profit pricing we have negotiated: https://tinyurl.com/LAClimateWeekVenues
Research people that you’d like to get involved in your event and start outreach. Our team has created a speaker database of people who’d like to speak or facilitate LA Climate Week events: https://tinyurl.com/LACWSpeakerForm
Keeping your target audience in mind, pick a time and date (September 8-15) for your event. Add it to the Official LA Climate Week Calendar.
Make sure to share your event across your social media and communication channels! You can fill out this form for LA Climate Week to promote your event or organization as a collaborative post as well.
