MEET THE MOVEMENT

Los Angeles Climate Week is built by organizers, educators, creatives, business leaders, civic institutions, faith communities, youth advocates and neighbors across Los Angeles County.

We are not gathering people into one room. We are revealing a county already in motion.

LA Climate Week exists to connect and amplify the climate work already happening here, and to make it visible at scale.

HOW WE'RE STRUCTURED

Leadership here is spread across a lot of people. Each group holds a different part of the work.

EVENT
ORGANIZERS

The organizations, businesses and neighbors who host the events. What happens at each one belongs to them.

PLANNING
TEAMS

Volunteer leads who each take on a piece of the season, like marketing, and see it through. We'll talk with you before you join one.

COUNCILS

Organizations grouped by subject, from food systems to land and water. They advise on what each season takes on, with environmental justice running through every one.

STEERING
COMMITTEE

Organizational leaders from across the county who advise on the season and lend their standing to it.

LA Climate Week grows outward, across neighborhoods, sectors and industries, instead of up from one center.

The Thinking Guiding Our Work

LA Climate Week is informed by research, storytelling, and real-world practice.

We draw from:

  • Climate communications research on social norms and perception gaps
  • Community-driven conservation and regenerative design principles
  • Public engagement strategies that prioritize agency over fear
  • Equity-centered and accessibility-informed frameworks
  • Cultural strategy and narrative change theory

We believe climate progress accelerates when people can see themselves — and their peers — participating.

Below are institutions whose work has shaped our approach.

Who’s inspiring Us

LA Climate Week is inspired by thinkers, practitioners, and traditions that center justice, imagination, care, and responsibility.

What Makes US DIFFERENT

Los Angeles County already holds more of this work than any one sector can see. Last season, 283 organizations built something across 35 cities and 115 zip codes, in labs and libraries and on blocks. Putting it in one place is what lets a utility executive and a block captain end up in the same room.

The work runs in three layers at once.

Trust. Showing up in places before asking for anything, and staying long enough to be known. It’s the slowest part and the least visible, and everything else depends on it.

Solutions. All year: salons, skill-building, partnerships, and formats any organizer can run again. This is where the things you see in April get made.

The Week. Eleven days every spring, April 2–12 in 2027, when all of it is visible at once and the county sees itself.

There’s no single way in. From board rooms to kitchen tables, classrooms to cultural institutions, there’s a role for everyone.

This Is a Movement Built by the People Who Show Up

LA Climate Week is a shared design process for the future of Los Angeles County. If you believe Los Angeles can lead, culturally, creatively and collectively, there’s a place for you here.
