The Climate Justice Forum is a one-night speaker panel and concert hosted by Environmentalists of Color Collective (ECC). This year, we are celebrating the Climate Justice Forum’s seventh year on campus! This tradition has been one of the main environmental justice-focused events that have highlighted voices of color. This year’s CJF theme is Environmental Justice and Artificial Intelligence. We will explore the potential uses that artificial intelligence may have in climate and sustainability research, as well as the environmental consequences of its use and the construction of AI datacenters. The goal of CJF is to raise awareness about the contributions that people of color have made to the environmental sustainability movement; reframe conceptions of disadvantaged/vulnerable communities; and stimulate critical dialogue about environmental racism and injustice issues and climate resilience at UCLA and beyond. We will have free vegetarian food catered for all attendees for dinner, followed by a one-hour panel discussion with community activists and local politicians involved in sustainability, energy and power, and environmental justice.
