The City of West Hollywood invites community members to attend a community workshop on the proposed Open Space Element Update to the City’s General Plan on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the West Hollywood Aquatic & Recreation Center, 8750 El Tovar Place in the La Cienega and San Vicente Room.
The workshop will give community members an opportunity to learn about the update process and share input on the future of parks, recreation, and open space in West Hollywood. The workshop is free and open to the public, and no advance registration is required.
The Open Space Element is a state-required section of the General Plan that guides the City’s policies for parks, recreation, environmental resources, and open space. State law has recently expanded local open space planning requirements to address equity, climate resilience, related community benefits, and opportunities to restore and expand natural systems where feasible.
Since summer 2025, the City has been working on these updates as part of the Open Space Element Update. In a dense urban environment, parks, open space, and recreation programs support health, community connection, and climate resilience. Community members are encouraged to attend the April 11 workshop and share feedback on the draft Open Space Element. Input received will help inform future policies, priorities, and actions for parks and open spaces in West Hollywood. More information about the project, the draft Open Space Element, and an online comment form are available at https://engage.weho.org/openspace.
