E.J. Earth Day was created to bring families and community members across Los Angeles together to learn about applying environmental justice principles to their lives. It will take place on a beautiful and historic day camp campus, Tumbleweed Day Camp. Attendees will be able to play games, purchase from vendors, and listen to a panel all centered on sustainability, climate literacy, and environmental justice. They will also engage in activities and discussions that promote justice-centered climate action.
Activities include upcycled tie-dye to bring new life to old clothing; a climate literacy library with books and literature for all ages with themes of sustainability and environmental justice; a panel of entrepreneurs and civil servants discussing ways that climate literacy can apply to their respective fields; a lizard walk; and a board game auction.
Education and fun are at the center of this event. Everyone, kids and adults alike, will learn something new about environmental justice, their community, and themselves after this experience. We will all walk away with toolkits to inspire immediate action and change that is deeper, richer, and more systemic than before.
Tickets are pay-what-you-can. You can purchase them using the Eventbrite link. Children under 5 are free. Parking is limited, so bring a friend and carpool!
