LA Climate Week 2026 Event | UNA-OC Interactive Session
Join us during LA Climate Week 2026, a dynamic citywide movement that brings together community leaders, policymakers, innovators, and residents to advance bold climate solutions.
As part of this inspiring initiative, the United Nations Association of Orange County (UNA-OC) is proud to host an interactive session on Saturday, April 18, facilitated by Dr. Sarwat Chowdhury of UC Irvine, UNA-OC Climate Change Ambassador, and former United Nations official, featuring two distinguished speakers:
Dr. Erika Ramirez-Mayoral, Executive Director of GREEN MPNA, brings over 10 years of experience in community organizing. She is dedicated to empowering Santa Ana families to advocate for environmental justice, expand access to recreational spaces, and improve air quality. Her work focuses on fostering collaborations around community-centered land use policy and land stewardship to advance public health in socially stratified communities.
Ms. Patty Oh, Executive Director of Cool OC, is a long-time climate activist. She has worked with a range of organizations to advance strong climate action plans, promote community choice energy, and raise awareness of the urgent challenges of climate change. As a trained Climate Reality Leader, she founded Cool OC to expand sustainable living and disaster preparedness efforts across Orange County, with a focus on disadvantaged communities. Under her leadership, Cool OC empowers individuals and communities to make informed, impactful decisions for a sustainable future.
This engaging workshop will explore the intersection of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate action, offering participants a practical lens on how global frameworks translate into meaningful local impact across Southern California.
Through guided discussion and real-world examples, participants will gain insight into how climate initiatives—from policy and advocacy to grassroots innovation—align with the SDGs and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future.
This session is designed for students, professionals, and community members passionate about sustainability and eager to deepen their understanding of climate action from a global-to-local perspective. Join us to connect, learn, and engage in a growing movement building a resilient climate future.
