About Event

We will be joining the day of live music, family entertainment, and eco-friendly discoveries at the 13th annual Earth Day Festival taking place in Tarzana. Stop by our booth to learn how landscape scale restoration can help restore endangered wildlife and our iconic open spaces from summit to sea. We’ll have photo ops as a southern steelhead, giveaways, and info on how to take part in our community science program.

The 13th Annual Earth Day Celebration is hosted by the Tarzana Neighborhood Council, West Valley-Warner Center Chamber of Commerce, City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, and Councilmember Bob Blumenfield.

Malibu Creek Ecosystem Restoration Project

Led by California State Parks with public outreach led by California Trout , the Malibu Creek Ecosystem Restoration Project (MCERP) is a once-in-a-generation effort to restore natural watershed function from the Santa Monica Mountains to Santa Monica Bay. The project will remove the obsolete Rindge Dam, manage and relocate approximately 800,000 cubic yards of stored sediment, and improve fish passage at eight upstream barriers. This project will reconnect roughly 15 miles of habitat for endangered Southern California steelhead while restoring “summit-to-sea” sediment and ecological connectivity that supports coastal habitats and beach nourishment. An informed and supportive community is essential to successfully delivering the MCERP and accomplishing the ecological goals of the project.
