About Event

Every faith and spiritual community tells stories about and over food — not only those preserved in sacred texts, but also those we continue to create in our kitchens, our migrations, our rituals, and our movements for change. These stories teach us not only what to eat, but also who we are in relation to one another, the climate, and the earth. They shape our imaginations and, in turn, shape our actions.

How can hearing, engaging, and reinterpreting old stories — and telling new ones — transform how we live, eat, and repair our world today? Join us for a rich, interfaith conversation as spiritual leaders explore the sacred connections between food, stories, rituals, and sustainability. ASL Interpreter provided.

Organizer

Unitarian Universalist Animal Ministry

Unitarian Universalist Animal Ministry (UUAM) is a community of UUs and friends working to express our values of compassion and justice for all beings. We support individuals and congregations in living out these values. We do this work directly, and through our support of more than 40 international chapters. Our values include intersectionality, internationalism, interfaith, and interdependence.

Green Islam

Green Islam is an international non-profit environmental organization promoting ethical and sustainable lifestyle practices among Muslims. Through research, educational campaigns, and advocacy, we highlight Islamic teachings of peace, justice, and compassion toward fellow humans, animals, and the environment.

Center for Jewish Food Ethics

At the Center for Jewish Food Ethics, we apply Jewish ethical wisdom to address the contemporary problems caused by industrial animal agriculture. We provide Jewish communities with practical strategies to help them transition toward more sustainable food practices. We encourage normalizing plant-based foods as the default meal option. This approach centers the Jewish values of protecting people, animals, and the planet and supports the creation of a healthier, more resilient food system for all.
