A just food transition isn’t just about what’s on your plate — it’s about who controls the food system, who bears its costs, and who gets to shape what comes next.
Join Annette Manusevich (she/her), Farming Campaign Manager at World Animal Protection and Leah Kelly (she/her), Food and Agriculture Policy Specialist at the Center for Biological Diversity, for a policy conversation rooted in The Just Transition from Industrial Animal Production to Equitable, Humane and Sustainable Food Systems — a white paper built with input from over 120 individuals across 72 organizations in 35 countries.
The conversation will explore what it means to transition away from industrial animal agriculture in a way that centers racial equity, food sovereignty, and the rights of workers and marginalized communities — not just emissions targets. The U.S., as one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of industrially farmed animal products, is a critical front in this global fight.
Moderated by Joey Gaber, Los Angeles City Campaigner for Plant Based Treaty and co-founder of Food Day in WeHo.
Part of Food Day Festival in WeHo — a free, family-friendly, plant-based food festival co-hosted by Plant Based Treaty LA and SoCal VegFest at Plummer Park, April 12, 2026, 11 AM–5 PM. An official event of LA Climate Week.
